The more comprehensive your Custodian Digital Garage the more likely it is we will be able to offer you attractive cover & terms. We use this data to better inform our underwriters of your insurance risk. Yes, it is possible to insure Category N (CAT N) vehicles through our service, but there are some important considerations to keep in mind:
Difficulty in Underwriting: Insuring CAT N vehicles can be challenging because underwriters are often cautious due to uncertainties around the rebuild quality and safety of these cars.
Higher Premiums: Typically, the insurance premiums for CAT N vehicles are higher. This is due to the increased risk perceived by insurers.

Fair question. We request your National Insurance (NI) number primarily for convenience.
Providing your NI number allows us to retrieve your driving licence information directly via the government’s API, without you needing to manually obtain and share a DVLA check code. It’s a smoother and faster process for most users.
That said, if you’re not comfortable sharing your NI number, that’s completely fine—we have alternative methods available.

Yes—in some cases, we can.
If the vehicle is an import intended for road use, it must be registered eventually. However, we can insure it using the VIN while you wait for the registration paperwork (V5C) to be processed.
If the vehicle is not road legal, it doesn’t need to be registered. In that case, we can also insure it using the VIN, but cover is limited to accidental damage, fire, and theft—no road use cover applies.
