# How to Use a Referral Code for Custodian Insurance

If a friend or fellow car enthusiast gave you a referral code for Custodian Insurance, you can apply it directly while filling out your insurance application.

### Step-by-Step: Where to Enter Your Insurance Referral Code

1. Navigate to **Insurance on the Custodian Platform** and start (or resume) **Your application**.
2. Look at the bottom-right action bar of your application screen.
3. Click the **🏷️ Add referral code** button.
4. In the **Add referral code** pop-up modal, type or paste your referral code into the **Enter referral code** field.
5. Click **Apply code**.

### Key Things to Keep in Mind

* **Case Sensitivity:** Just like platform promo codes, referral codes are **case sensitive**. Enter uppercase and lowercase letters exactly as provided.
* **Application Only:** Referral codes must be added during the initial application flow. They cannot be retroactively applied once a policy application has been submitted and finalized.
* **Separate from Membership Codes:** Promotional codes meant for Custodian Membership plans (like Base or Premium) will not work in the Insurance application modal.
